Marcello Viotti

Principal Conductor of the Munich Radio Orchestra and Musical director of the Teatro La Fenice in Venice, Marcello Viotto led the most renowned orchestras from the Metropolitan New York to the Berlin Philharmonic passing by the Scala of Milan and even the Vienna Philharmonic.

Bearer of an innovative vision in the interpretation of musical works, he was profoundly interested in sacred music and produced concerts which were quite unique. For example: The "Paradisi Gloriae" series, presenting contemporary sacred music.

Considered one of the greatest of his generation, loved and respected by all, he adored directing opera and captured a special place in the hearts of vocalists. Marcello Viotti himself had studied singing and spent much of his time, energy and love working with other vocalists.

He recorded with the greatest performers of our day including Placido Domingo, Edita Gruberova, Rolando Villazon, Roberto Alagna to name but a few.

His great love of the voice, the exceptional rapport he had with vocalists and his desire to communicate his passion to young soloists, make this contest all the more authentic.
